Since the start of the 2020/21 season, the Eredivisie has been working with SciSports to provide a central analysis application for 15 of its 18 clubs.
The partnership means that SciSports is a key partner for the Dutch top flight by helping to provide data collection, delivery and analysis tools for efficient decision-making processes. By fully integrating separate data sources into one central platform, SciSports plays a significant role in helping Eredivisie clubs on a day-to-day basis.
From helping pre-match preparation during the week to providing post-match information by the next morning, the partnership allows all involved clubs to have the perfect tools for performance analysis. Through this way of working, the Eredivisie operates in a unique way to provide almost all league clubs with data and video providers which ultimately has the aim of tooling clubs for the best possible performances.
How does the partnership between SciSports and the Eredivisie work?
Before this season’s collaboration with SciSports, clubs in the Eredivisie have worked with three separate data collection companies to prepare and analyse matches. ChyronHego, Stats Perform and Provispo all still supply their respective information to clubs with tracking, event and video data.
However, SciSports’ partnership combines tracking and event data to come together for deeper analysis. Through a web-based application, all involved clubs have access to tracking, event and video data with the addition of fully automated tactical and physical analysis. By combining multiple sources, we create the most extensive source of information possible for Eredivisie clubs.
While SciSports is responsible for providing a central platform for data collection, we also provide clubs with detailed insights to help prepare them for matches and, subsequently, analyse specific areas of interest. For this, the combination of three different data streams helps in giving coaches and players a full picture of specific events. All of these elements contribute to helping clubs find a competitive edge on the pitch.
What else does the SciSports Performance Center offer?
The Performance Center offers clubs a chance to overview all elements of performance. From tactical and physical reports to detailed insights through data, coaches and other club staff members have a comprehensive view for performance analysis.
Next to this, the application allows clubs to improve their tactical analysis in combination with different areas of performance. For instance, physical features can be used to further examine an opponent’s performances and style of play on the pitch.
As an example, tactical reports allow users to interact and create their own insights by filtering on classic variables and more complex metrics like Opportunity Potential, Pass Quality, Pressure, and more. All of this amounts to a high level of understanding on an upcoming opponent or when analysing a match the next day.
One specific element of the Performance Center that helps Eredivisie clubs is the way in which they can view events. From using data to filter right down into specific actions and events. All events can be reviewed in variables, 2D animation and video through one synchronised way of working. Having a seamless link with most video analysing tools allows users to have all the ingredients for meaningful data-driven analysis both pre and post-match.
How does SciSports help Eredivisie clubs from week-to-week?
Since the merger of SciSports and Inmotio earlier this year, the company has become increasingly aware of the wide-ranging services we can offer. In this case, a focus on how to better equip clubs for successful decision-making is shown through detailed analysis of match data. This directly helps all involved clubs in their performances – right from on the pitch to helping technical directors, coaching staff and performance analysts.
A key way in helping clubs on a weekly basis is through saving time and resources with our central analysis platform. The Performance Center solves the issue of clubs having to collect and process data by providing automated reports with extended insights from machine-learning models.
By taking away the challenge of collecting, distributing and storing data in an efficient way, clubs have easy access to information which they can review, analyse and download all from one central application.
Having created this application in-house, SciSports offers expertise to each club on a weekly basis with any questions or queries they may have. Specialist members of the team help with consultancy each week when the information is made available by the morning after a match. Given that the application is used on a daily and weekly basis by professional clubs, we are always open to feedback as a company so we can continue to improve the product further.
